The UK Government Digital Service has developed a cross-government Cloud Consumption Dashboard (CCD) to provide a single, trusted view of public sector cloud spend. Built on the FinOps Foundation’s FOCUS specification, the CCD aggregates standardized cost and utilization data from AWS and Azure through organization-hosted producer modules into a central analytics platform. The CCD delivers service-level categorization of data giving insight into the evolution of costs associated with AI and other emerging and established technologies. The initiative combines technical design with the cultural and political work of implementing FinOps at national scale, including cross-organizational data sharing and the collaboration of commercial, finance and engineering teams. The session presents a practical case study showing how the CCD’s insights are informing contract strategies and optimizing cloud value across government.
