Many FinOps teams began their journey in the public cloud and are now confronting a familiar challenge: how to extend FinOps practices into on-prem data centers without fragmenting tooling, reporting, or accountability. While this is a new problem for many organizations, it’s one Target has been solving for years.
In this session, we’ll share how we incorporated on-prem infrastructure into our existing FinOps platform to seamlessly combine on-prem and public cloud into a single operating model. We’ll walk through the practical decisions—technical and organizational—that allowed us to normalize costs, allocations, and unit economics across environments, while still supporting all three FinOps phases: Inform, Optimize, and Operate. Attendees will leave with concrete patterns for expanding FinOps scope beyond the cloud, avoiding common pitfalls, and building a platform and principles that scale no matter where software is running in their organization.
